We are so grateful for the kind words of our adopters, volunteers, and supporters!
Adopter: Marvin now Cooper"Lucky Dog Refuge is a local organization that makes an impact at both a personal and community level. Personally, we had the opportunity to adopt our dog from their rescue. We could tell from our first interaction with the staff that they clearly love and greatly care for their adoptable dogs. The most amazing part about Lucky Dog is that they provide care and rehab to dogs who are extremely neglected or injured. They are truly a lifeline for the most vulnerable dogs as they transport dogs from all over the country who are in need.
At a community level, Lucky Dog Refuge is always seen at Stamford and nearby Fairfield County events, bringing smiles to people’s faces as they share with the public their mission and their efforts to help dogs in need. They bring people together by welcoming volunteer opportunities. Whether it is allowing nearby companies to host an event, or offering the chance for individual community members to stop by the refuge to give back. We love to take any chance we can get to help support this well-run organization." |
Adopter: Miso now Frankie"Lucky Dog has such a special place in our hearts, not only for bringing our puppy into our lives but because we’ve had the privilege to witness some of the impactful, consistent hard work they do each and every day. We live next door and can attest first hand! Getting to see the endless transports of new dogs from all over the country (and world!) into the refuge, the educating and onboarding of daily volunteers, the diligent care they give the animals (rain or shine, holidays and weekends) and their involvement in our Stamford community (and beyond) is truly amazing. When we first adopted, we had a million questions and LDR helped us navigate this new chapter seamlessly. However, it was beyond that initial help where we realized they were different. LDR makes you feel like you’re now an extension of one big family, who you can always rely on and come back to and for that we’re forever grateful!"

Adopter: Aurora & Sabrett now Rory & Rhett"Lucky Dog has given us the two best dogs we could ever ask for! Our first dachshund was from a puppy mill in Georgia and Lucky Dog was so helpful with getting her here and keeping us updated throughout the process. For our second dog, Lucky Dog was kind enough to reach out to us knowing that we were interested in giving another rescue a home! They have had such a great impact on the Stamford animal rescue community. We love having them in our neighborhood and attending any of the amazing community fundraising events they put together! We love you Lucky Dog, adopt don’t shop ❤️"

Adopter: Chanterelle now Harbor"My fiancé and I volunteered at Lucky Dog Refuge for a year and a half before adopting our puppy. We took our time finding the right dog for our family since we wanted to rescue and already had 2 cats in our pack. We immediately fell in love with the mushroom litter and the little fluffy runt, Chanterelle - now Harbor. Being a part of the Lucky Dog community and Alumni is so special, and we love that we can still volunteer, connect with other alumni and Harbor's siblings. We don’t have enough good things to say about Lucky Dog, the staff are incredible and their care for these animals is unmatched. We are so grateful to be a part of this community and to have our sassy baby girl, Harbor!"

Adopter: Devin now Lily"When I moved into Harbor Point from out of state, I didn’t know anyone! I quickly learned that the best and most vibrant part of the neighborhood were the lucky dogs and the organization that makes Lucky Dog Refuge possible. I have absolutely loved volunteering, participating in the parades and pack walks, and eventually adopting my very own lucky pup, Lily! This neighborhood wouldn’t be the same without this amazing organization and the amazing people who run it. 💚"

Volunteer & Local Resident"When I moved back to Stamford in July 2020 I was looking for an animal shelter to volunteer at and I came across Lucky Dog Refuge, which had just moved into their Stamford facility. From the first day I reached out the staff was incredibly welcoming, responsive, and most importantly passionate about the dogs they were rescuing. They made the experience of fostering and walking dogs incredibly easy & something I look forward to every week. Now almost three years later it's incredible to see how much the shelter has grown and how many animals they have been able to rescue. When I walk around Harbor Point, I am constantly seeing dogs I recognize from the shelter that have found their forever homes. Lucky Dog Refuge has been a great addition to the Stamford community & I am very grateful for the work that they do."

Local Resident: Breesy"Lucky Dog Refuge was an added bonus when my dog Breesy and I moved to Harbor Point. It is such a joy to meet a new dog in the park and find out they are a Lucky Dog rescue. Some of Breesy's best friends are rescued from Lucky Dog and we love running into the volunteers walking the dogs throughout Harbor Point. The work Lucky Dog does is incredible and inspiring and I am grateful to have them in our community. Breesy and I try to attend as many Lucky Dog events as we can and look forward to attending many more in the years to come."
